2025 Injury Report: Updates on Alvarez, Baty, Martin

Baty was grimacing coming off the field in the first before leaving the dugout, and ultimately, left the game.

Alvarez done for regular season

The Astros will have to get through the final weekend without Yordan Alvarez.

Manager Joe Espada stated that Alvarez will not be available for their series against the Angels. Alvarez has not been ruled out for the playoffs but Houston must make it there first.

Heading into play on September 26, the Astros were one game behind the Tigers for the third and final AL Wild Card spot.

Notable absences

Here are notable players who did not start on September 26:

• Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy did not start with a lower-body injury.
• Additionally, Tommy Edman sat with ankle soreness.
• Oneil Cruz (ankle) did not start against the Braves.
• Reds outfielder Austin Hays (back) did not start yet again on September 26.
• Jeremy Pena (oblique) was out of the Astros’ starting lineup.

Other injury news

Phillies manager Rob Thomson stated that Trea Turner continues to progress. He could return on September 28, the Phillies’ final regular-season game before the NLDS.

Rangers pitcher Chris Martin was placed on the 15-day IL with thoracic outlet syndrome. That may be the end of Martin’s MLB career, as he stated last year that he believed that 2025 would be his final season.

Additionally, the Rangers shifted Nathan Eovaldi to the 60-day IL and placed Cole Winn on the IL with a rotator cuff strain.

The Rays placed Everson Pereira on the 10-day IL with low back inflammation. Jonathan Aranda was activated off the IL.
