The Astros received a scare on September 15, as Yordan Alvarez needed help off the field after sustaining an ankle injury. Additionally, the Blue Jays, who are looking to lock up a playoff berth, should get additional information on Bo Bichette’s knee sprain this week.
Yordan Alvarez was forced to exit the Astros’ game on September 15 due to a sprained left ankle.
Alvarez sustained the injury after running to home plate off an errant throw from Jack Leiter. The OF/DH beat out a throw from Adolis Garcia but twisted his ankle when he stepped on home plate.
Bo Bichette is still on the IL, and the Blue Jays will look to get a better idea of how he is over the coming days.
Bichette met with a specialist in Dallas on Monday. Manager John Schneider stated that the appointment does not change the team’s thought process on where he is with his recovery. Schneider added that it will give him both the shortstop and the team clarity.
Albert Suarez‘s 2025 campaign is over. Suarez was placed on the injured list with right elbow discomfort.
Suarez missed five months with a rotator cuff strain. He made five appearances this season, with one being a start.
In better news, the Orioles will get Jordan Westburg back on September 16.
Cubs OF/DH Seiya Suzuki (illness) missed his fourth straight game on August 15.
Reds INF/OF Spencer Steer did not play with neck spasms.
Anthony Volpe (shoudler), meanwhile, came in as a defensive substitution in the eighth inning of the Yankees’ game on the 15th. It was his first action since September 9.
Cubs pitcher Michael Soroka was activated off the injured list. Soroka, a starter for most of the year, worked out of the bullpen during his rehab assignment and will remain as a reliever.
Additionally, Logan O’Hoppe (Angels), Jack Suwinski (Pirates), Nolan Arenado, Dane Myers, Graham Pauley, and Connor Norby (Marlins) were activated off the injured list.
