On September 15, the Astros confirmed that star slugger Yordan Alvarez suffered an ankle sprain in what was another tough turn for him this year. The Astros indicated on the 16th that Alvarez will be out for some time, a concern as the team inches closer to the postseason.
That’s what Astros manager Joe Espada stated regarding Yordan Alvarez‘s ankle sprain. Espada confirmed that it’s a “significant” ankle sprain and didn’t want to put down an exact timetable.
“Let’s not get into days, weeks, any of that. We are going to take one day at a time, but this is going to take some time to heal. We don’t have that many days left in the regular season… Hopefully he’s not out for a long period of time,” Espada said.

Skubal is scheduled to start on September 17.
