The Rangers placed Adolis Garcia, who’s hitting .188 since the break, on the 10-day IL on August 13, part of what was a busy day on the injury front. Oneil Cruz was also placed on the injured list, while Miguel Amaya will require a stint after another injury.

Amaya leaves game vs. Blue Jays

Just one day after Miguel Amaya returned from the IL, Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya left the team’s contest against the Blue Jays.

It was a scary injury visually, as Amaya went flying after touching first base on a ground-ball. The Cubs catcher was taken off on a stretcher.

After the game, Craig Counsell confirmed Amaya suffered a sprained ankle and will need to go on the injured list.

Cruz on concussion IL

Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz was placed on the 7-day IL with a concussion.

Cruz had to leave on August 12 after colliding with fellow outfielder Jack Suwinski.

Garcia placed on injured list

The Rangers placed Adolis Garcia on the 10-day IL with a left ankle sprain.

There was good news for the Rangers, as Evan Carter returned from the IL. Carter, before the 13th, hadn’t played since August 1.

Rehab assignments

Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah threw 49 pitches for Buffalo (AAA) on August 13 over 1.2 IP. Manoah struck out one and walked three. The right-hander averaged 91 MPH on both his sinker and four-seamer.

Speaking of the Blue Jays, George Springer has been cleared to play. Springer will begin a rehab assignment with Buffalo beginning on the 14th.

Other injury news

Astros manager Joe Espada stated on the 13th that Josh Hader will likely require more than two weeks on the IL. Hader will get a second opinion on his left shoulder.

The Diamondbacks placed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani on the injured list with right thumb inflammation.

Hunter Greene (Reds), Martin Perez (White Sox), and Paul Blackburn (Mets) were activated off the injured list.
