Toronto had the benefit of a five-day break to give its injured players more time to rest for October. It appears that Chris Bassitt, who threw 170.1 IP, will be back for the American League Division Series. However, Bo Bichette’s status remains murky.
The Blue Jays will get back at least one notable piece before the ALDS. Chris Bassitt, on the IL with a back injury, should be ready for this weekend, per manager John Schneider.
Toronto confirmed that Jose Berrios won’t be on the ALDS roster. Per Schneider, Berrios has yet to resume throwing. Berrios was placed on the injured list with elbow inflammation in late September.
As for Bo Bichette, Schneider stated that Bichette has not begun running yet. The Blue Jays’ manager is playing catch and swinging a bat.
Yesterday, manager Alex Cora stated that Roman Anthony has yet to resume baseball activities. Anthony is currently on the IL with an oblique strain.
Additionally, Cora also noted that Lucas Giolito‘s elbow injury will likely keep him out for the entire postseason. Giolito was omitted from the team’s Wild Card roster.
San Francisco confirmed that Giants first baseman Bryce Eldridge will undergo left wrist surgery to repair a bone spur. It comes with at least an eight-week recovery.
The 20-year-old went 3-28 (.107 AVG) across the last two weeks of the 2025 MLB season. Eldridge was promoted in mid-September to the Giants.
Eldridge impressed the president of baseball operations, Buster Posey, who noted that the former was “working his tail off” to work at first base and improve defensively.
The Padres transferred Jason Adam to the 60-day IL before the NL Wild Card round to clear a spot for Martin Maldonado.
Twins infielder Luke Keaschall was scheduled for hand surgery on October 1. It’ll be done to repair the torn UCL in his left thumb.
Free agent reliever Declan Cronin will undergo UCL reconstruction surgery, per USA Today.
