Over the first three games of the NLDS, the Dodgers have leaned heavily on their starters, both to start & finish out games. Tanner Scott, their closer for much of 2025, has yet to pitch in the postseason for Los Angeles. He won’t be available for the next two rounds, as Scott was removed from the NLDS roster due to injury.
Dodgers pitcher Tanner Scott was officially removed from the NLDS roster per manager Dave Roberts. Scott had a lower-body abscess operation on October 8, forcing his removal from the roster. This news comes one day after Roberts stated that Scott wasn’t with the team due to a personal matter.
Due to MLB playoff rules, any player removed from a playoff roster due to injury is ineligible to return for the following playoff round. Thus, Scott is automatically ineligible for the NLCS. He would be eligible for the World Series if he were healthy.
Left-hander Justin Wrobleski replaced Scott on the NLDS.
The Blue Jays officially advanced to the ALCS on October 8. Now, with three days until the ALCS, the wait game shifts to Seattle, Detroit, and Bo Bichette.
Bichette was jogging before Game 4 against the Yankees. After the game, Bichette stated that he’s been making progress and is optimistic about a return for the ALCS.
“I’ve made a lot of progress recently…I still have some hurdles to clear, but I’m optimistic … I’ve gotta run a little bit faster, but I’m feeling better every day,” Bichette stated on the 8th.
Carlos Narvaez wasn’t the only Red Sox catcher who needed offseason surgery.
Connor Wong had carpal boss excision surgery, normally done to remove either a lump or overgrowth in the hand/wrist.
Wong slashed .190/.262/.238 (.500 OPS) this season across 188 plate appearances. He wound up losing the starting catcher job in Boston this season to Narvaez, who required arthroscopic knee surgery after the 2025 campaign.
The Mets announced that reliever Reed Garrett underwent Tommy John surgery. It’ll sideline him for the entire 2026 season.
