Before the new week begins on August 11, there were injury updates on several notable players on the 10th. The Tigers lost 2025 All-Star Matt Vierling to the injured list again, weeks after coming back from a shoulder injury. The Yankees, meanwhile, lost one of their trade deadline acquisitions to the IL. However, the Twins should get back Byron Buxton in the very near future.

Buxton coming back this week

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated before the team’s upcoming series against the Yankees that Byron Buxton should return when the team plays in The Bronx. However, it’s not known yet when Buxton will be activated this week.

Buxton has been out since late July thanks to left ribcage cartilage irritation.

Rosario on IL

Speaking of the Yankees, Amed Rosario landed on the injured list with a left SC joint sprain in his shoulder.

Rosario suffered the injury on August 8. He hopes to miss just the minimum on the injured list.

Vierling dealing with oblique strain

Tigers utilityman Matt Vierling is back on the injured list, thanks to a left oblique strain.

Manager A.J. Hinch stated the oblique slowly became more of an issue for Vierling.

The Tigers have not ruled him out for the remainder of the 2025 season. Hinch stated it’s a mild strain, not severe.

Rehab assignments

Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm was assigned to Lehigh Valley (AAA) on August 10 and played for the Ironpigs. Bohm went 0-4 and did not play the entire game. He was removed for a defensive substitution in the eighth inning.

Giants pitcher Landen Roupp threw for Sacramento (AAA) on the 10th. Roupp struck out four over three innings. He threw 50 pitches in total.

Other injury news

Reds starter Hunter Greene should return to the rotation for the team this week, per manager Terry Francona.
