The Phillies may get Trea Turner back before the end of the regular season — and just in time before the postseason. It’s one of several injury-related notes on a very light day across MLB. Additionally, several players were activated off the injured list, including Adley Rutschman and a pair of Marlins.

Turner may come back this week

Per the New York Times, Phillies infielder Trea Turner could be activated this week.

Turner has reportedly been able to recovery very well from a hamstring injury and ramp up his activities. He’ll take live BP this week.

Philadelphia has already locked up the NL East and is on the verge of clinching a bye to the NLDS. The Phillies were four games up on the Dodgers for the #2 spot in the National League.

Updates on Marlins’ injuries

There was a slew of IL activations on September 22. Among those are Edward Cabrera and Griffin Conine of the Miami Marlins.

Conine went on the injured list back on April 20. The 28-year-old suffered a left shoulder dislocation and spent the last few weeks rehabbing with Triple-A Jacksonville. Conine batted .292 with two home runs across nine games.

Cabrera, meanwhile, missed the last three weeks with an elbow strain. The right-hander will start for Miami on September 23.

Additionally, the Marlins activated Derek Hill and subsequently designated him for assignment.

Tucker won’t be in lineup on September 23

Manager Craig Counsell confirmed yesterday that Kyle Tucker likely won’t be back in the Cubs’ lineup when the team returns from their final regular-season road trip. Tucker left the team last week to see his physician back in Florida. He’s set to return to the team this week.

As of the 21st, Counsell stated that Tucker had yet to resume running drills.

Other injury news

Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. did not start on September 22 due to an illness.

Adley Rutschman (Orioles), Rhett Lowder (Reds), and Christian Vazquez (Twins) were activated off the injured list.
