Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo cruised through five innings on September 19 during what was yet another strong start for the 2025 All-Star. However, he left the start early with a pectoral injury. Thankfully for the Mariners, the team received better news on the 20th.
The Mariners took sole control of the AL West on September 20. However, Bryan Woo had to leave the game early thanks to pectoral tightness, with an MRI to follow.
Manager Dan Wilson confirmed that Woo is dealing with just minor pectoral inflammation, and not a significant injury.
On September 19, the Dodgers clinch a playoff spot yet again. The Dodgers were able to maintain control of the NL West thus far without Will Smith, who hasn’t played since September 9 thanks to a right hand contusion.
But on the 20th, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated that Smith is actually dealing with a hairline fracture in his hand. Roberts confirmed he won’t return for the rest of the regular season and it’s unknown whether he’ll be back in the playoffs.
The Twins shut down Pablo Lopez on September 20. Minnesota placed their co-ace on the injured list with a right forearm strain.
Lopez exited after four innings on September 19 with forearm tightness. The right-hander was limited to 75.2 IP this year, thanks to three appearances on the IL.
Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander went 2-4 with two RBI for Buffalo (AAA).
Cubs reliever Daniel Palencia struck out two over 0.2 IP for Iowa (AAA). Palencia averaged 99 MPH and topped out at 101 MPH.
Both Reed Garrett and Tylor Megill have reportedly been recommended for Tommy John surgery, per the New York Times. The two are currently on the injured list.
Athletics infielder Zack Gelof is done for this year, as Gelof dislocated his left shoulder attempting to field a ground ball on September 19.
Cleveland placed Nolan Jones on the injured list with a right oblique strain.
Angels reliever Robert Stephenson went on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation.
Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt was placed on the injured list with low back inflammation. It’s retroactive to September 19.
Owen White (White Sox), Max Muncy (Athletics), and Eli Morgan (Cubs) were activated off the IL.
