One day after a tough-to-watch play in Los Angeles, Max Muncy landed on the IL. However, the Dodgers did receive good news regarding the third baseman. Additionally, the Mets must deal with more injuries to their pitching staff.
Just before Clayton Kershaw became a member of the 3,000 strikeout club, Max Muncy suffered a scary leg injury after tracking a throw from Will Smith on a stolen base attempt. The play caused Muncy to exit the game, not putting weight on the leg.
The Dodgers announced Muncy was placed on the injured list with a bone bruise on July 3 in his left knee. An MRI revealed no structural damage to Muncy’s knee, and the hope is he could come back in six weeks.
Meanwhile, in Anaheim, the Angels are without Christian Moore. The rookie infielder was placed on the injured list with a left thumb sprain on July 3.
Moore stated he hopes that he can come back in two weeks.
Yes, the Mets are dealing with more injuries.
Paul Blackburn was placed on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement, marking yet another instance where a starting pitcher from the Mets landed on the IL.
Additionally, Dedniel Nunez is dealing with a UCL sprain. Nunez will get additional looks at his elbow before the team makes a decision on the right-hander.
Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford went 1-3 with a run scored and RBI for Frisco (AA) on July 3. As noted earlier this week, the team hopes he can return this weekend against the Padres.
The Diamondbacks sent Corbin Carroll to the ACL for a rehab assignment. Carroll went 0-2 with a walk in his first three plate appearances.
Bo Bichette did not start yet again for the Blue Jays on July 3. However, Bichette did pinch hit for Will Wagner in the seventh inning.
Clarke Schmidt, meanwhile, exited his start against the Blue Jays with forearm tightness.
Andrew Chafin (Nationals) and Ha-Seong Kim (Rays) were activated off the injured list.
