2025 Injury Report: Updates on Orioles & Twins’ Injuries

Only eight games took place on April 28, meaning the injury news on Monday was somewhat muted. Still, a lot went down. The Orioles added two more names to the injured list, while Twins fans received updates on several recently injured players.

More injuries for Orioles

It was another interesting day on the injury front for the Orioles, the team that lost Tyler O’Neill to a neck injury last week.

Jordan Westburg, who didn’t play for the Orioles on April 27, was placed on the injured list on the 28th with a left hamstring strain. Additionally, catcher Gary Sanchez was placed on the 10-day IL with right wrist inflammation.

Baltimore transferred Colton Cowser & Grayson Rodriguez to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man for replacements. The O’s selected the contracts of catcher Maverick Handley and infielder Emmanuel Rivera.

Updates on Keaschall & Wallner

The Twins’ team trainer provided updates on two key injured players, Luke Keaschall & Matt Wallner, and neither will be back relatively soon.

For Keaschall, he will not need surgery on the fracture he sustained to his right ulna bone. However, it’ll likely be months before Keaschall, who will need weekly X-rays to monitor the fracture, plays in a game.

Wallner, meanwhile, will likely be weeks away before returning to game action. The Twins outfielder is recovering from a “moderate to severe” left hamstring injury.

However, there was some good news on the injury front. Royce Lewis, who started a rehab assignment last week with St. Paul (AAA), will play nine innings for the Saints as the DH on the 29th. Then, he’s scheduled to play nine innings on the 30th at third base.

Willi Castro resumed baseball activities as he comes back from an oblique injury.

Other injury news

The Dodgers officially placed Tyler Glasnow, who left his start on April 27, on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.

Cedric Mullins, out with an illness on April 27, returned to the Orioles’ lineup on the 28th. The same can be said for Josh Jung, the Rangers’ third baseman who left on the 27th against the Giants thanks to a lacerated finger.

Ezequiel Tovar is progressing towards a rehab assignment, per the Rockies’ shortstop.
