2026 Injury Report: Updates on Anthony, Judge, Marsee

It was not a great day for the Red Sox on September 29, as the club was shutout by the Yankees and lost outfielder Roman Anthony. As for the Yankees, Aaron Judge was not activated before the round. But the news doesn’t sound too bad.

Anthony leaves early

Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony was pulled during the sixth inning in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Round, replaced by Andruw Monasterio. After the game, manager Chad Tracy provided an update on the outfielder.

Anthony was removed after his hand flared up after he took a check swing on a pitch during Game 1. The Red Sox outfielder missed much of the year with a hand injury.

Moving to other news, Mickey Gasper‘s season is done. Gasper told the media that he will need right biceps surgery to repair a tear. He was placed on the IL back on September 27.

Judge isn’t ready yet

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, recovering from a calf strain, was not on the club’s AL Wild Card roster.

Manager Aaron Boone noted that Judge is not ready yet, as obviously suspected. The decision to leave him off the roster was made after consultation with trainers on the 28th.

Other notes

Marlins baseball ops head Peter Bendix noted on the 29th that Jakob Marsee will see a specialist for a look at his elbow. Marsee was dealing with soreness at the end of the season.

Brewers first baseman Andrew Vaughn (illness) was cleared to workout with the team (h/t Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel).
