It was another tough day for injuries on May 10. The Tigers added Kerry Carpenter to the IL, while Willson Contreras & Jacob Wilson both left their respective games due to injury. But in more positive news, Mookie Betts is coming back this week.

Betts coming back

Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is expected to be activated from the injured list on May 11.

Betts played two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, his first games back since he suffered an oblique injury last month while the team was on the road in Washington, D.C.

Contreras suffered bruised hand

Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras left the team’s game against the Rays thanks to a bruised hand. Contreras suffered it after he was hit by a 94 MPH sinker by Nick Martinez in the first inning.

Manager Chad Tracy stated that scans on Contreras’ hand came back negative.

IL moves

Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter was placed on the IL, adding to what is a lengthy list of players out for Detroit. Carpenter, who suffered a shoulder injury on the 9th, was placed on the IL with a left AC joint sprain.

Justin Verlander (hip inflammation) and Edwin Diaz (loose bodies removal surgery) were transferred to the 60-day IL.

Sam Hentges (Giants) and Carlos Rodon (Yankees) were activated off the injured list.
