
Yet again, the Blue Jays had to use their bullpen for an extended period of time on April 6. That’s because Toronto’s scheduled starter, Max Scherzer, became the last Jays starter to require an early exit. In this case, it’s thanks to a forearm injury.

Manager John Schneider indicated that after his team’s game against the Dodgers, Scherzer had been dealing with it over the past few days. The good news for Toronto is that Schneider stated that he’s confident that Scherzer will make his next start (h/t Sportsnet).
It was not a good day for injury news, as far as the Blue Jays were concerned. Catcher Alejandro Kirk was confirmed to need thumb surgery, and a timeline for his return won’t be known until the operation is done, per the team. Addison Barger also missed the game against the Dodgers on April 6 thanks to an ankle injury.
Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd was placed on the 15-day IL with a left biceps strain.
Boyd reportedly had trouble recovering in between starts, which is why the Cubs placed him on the injured list. The left-hander is not expected to miss significant time (h/t Chicago Tribune).
The other big news of the day came via Juan Soto. The Mets placed the outfielder on the injured list with a minor calf strain.
Soto, who suffered the injury in San Francisco, is expected to miss two to three weeks.
Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom indicated after his start on the 6th that he felt knee tenderness during his outing (h/t Dallas Morning News).
Angels outfielder Mike Trout (hand) did not start for the team on April 6, one day after he was removed, thanks to a hand injury.
Additionally, the Angels placed Ryan Johnson on the 15-day IL with a viral infection.
Brewers pitcher Jared Koenig was placed on the injured list with a left elbow sprain.
Michael Massey (Royals), Sawyer Gipson-Long (Tigers), Enyel De Los Santos (Astros), and Taylor Walls (Rays) were activated off the injured list.
