The bulk of the injury news from September 27 revolved around the number of players on playoff teams scratched, leading up to the start of the postseason later this week. However, several postseason-bound teams had to place players on the IL. Boston put two key pieces of their 2026 team, Tyron Guerrero and Mickey Gapser, on the injured list.

IL moves

The Red Sox placed infielder Mickey Gasper (right biceps strain) and Tyron Guerrero (right shoulder strain) on the 10-day IL.

Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen was placed on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.

Jonathan Pintaro (illness) and Tony Gonsolin (allergic reaction) were also placed on the injured list.

Red Sox outfielder Eli White (foot) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

James McArthur (Royals), Jack Flaherty (Tigers), and Jesús Luzardo (Phillies) were activated off the IL.

Other notes

Oneil Cruz (knee), Gabriel Moreno (hamstring), Luis Arraez (ankle), Chandler Simpson (foot), Kyle Stowers (abdomen), Chase Meidroth (hamstring), Joey Ortiz (abdomen)

It is worth noting that Phillies manager Don Mattingly indicated that Arraez was available as a pinch-hitter.

Cubs pitcher Kevin Gausman threw a bullpen session on the 27th.
