The AL East teams were in the news on August 25. Some positive news regarding Aaron Judge came out, as he’s set to hit in a cage later this week. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, are down another pitcher, as Shane Bieber is back on the injured list.

Judge ramps up hitting

Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Aaron Judge will hit in a batting cage on August 26.

It’s a notable step in Judge’s rehab. Just in the past few weeks, he was cleared to run and play catch as he recovers from a fractured rib.

IL moves

Blue Jays pitcher Shane Bieber was placed on the IL with right teres major inflammation. Bieber will be shut down for at least two weeks, per manager John Schneider.

White Sox reliever Huascar Brazoban was placed on the 15-day IL with a left lat strain.

The Marlins placed Pete Fairbanks on the 15-day IL one day after removing him due to injury. Fairbanks was placed on the 15-day IL with right median nerve irritation.

Giants pitcher Carson Whisenhunt was placed on the 15-day IL with a left elbow strain.

Giancarlo Stanton (Yankees) and Jacob Wilson (Athletics) were transferred to the 60-day IL. Wilson is officially done for the 2026 season.

Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta struck out four over three innings for Low-A Lake Elsinore. Pivetta allowed three earned runs and four hits, two of which were home runs.
