San Francisco added bullpen help on the 29th of April, as Gregory Santos was called up. The move brings the reliever back to the Majors, while Jarred Kelenic was also promoted on the day.
The Giants selected reliever Gregory Santos from Triple-A before their game on April 29 versus the Phillies.
It’s a full circle move for Santos, once a former Giants prospect before he was acquired by the White Sox several years ago. He then became a strong high-leverage option with Chicago before he was dealt to the Mariners in 2024.
He struck out six over 11 innings with the River Cats and didn’t allow an earned run.
Speaking of the White Sox and Mariners, a link to both clubs was added to the Chicago roster.
Jarred Kelenic is back in the Majors, as the White Sox selected his contract from Triple-A and promoted him to the active roster.
Across 26 contests, Kelenic slashed .202/.346/.464 with Charlotte. A lot of strikeouts — 30, in fact — but Kelenic hit six home runs and 10 extra-base hits for the Knights.
The Yankees designated outfielder Randal Grichuk for assignment on the 29th.
Grichuk made the team as a platoon option this spring. However, he slashed .194/.212/.323 with 10 strikeouts over 16 contests with the club.
Jace Jung (Tigers), Enmanuel De Jesus (Tigers), Luis Mey (Reds), Mitch Farris (Angels), and Nate Eaton (Red Sox) were recalled from Triple-A.
Hunter Barco (Pirates) and Blade Tidwell (Giants) were optioned to the Minors.
Brian Fitzpatrick (Brewers) and Chris Devenski (Pirates) were designated for assignment.
Carlos Carrasco (Braves), Eloy Jimenez (Blue Jays), Joey Lucchesi (Angels), and Ryan Harbin (Pirates) were designated for assignment.
Brewers outfielder Luis Matos was sent outright to Triple-A.
