MLB’s offseason is underway, and already the Milwaukee Brewers have been making critical decisions, both from a player and staff standpoint. Freddy Peralta’s contract option was picked up, as expected, although a trade could still be in play. Options on Brandon Woodruff, Danny Jansen, Jose Quintana, and Rhys Hoskins were all declined, making them all free agents, with Woodruff receiving a qualifying offer.
In the dugout, Rickie Weeks will not be returning as Associate Manager to Pat Murphy, and instead will be working in the front office. From the Minor League side of things, Coleman Crow was added to the 40-man roster in order to be protected from December’s Rule-5 Draft.
Furthermore, Minor League players just hit free agency, with 22 now former Brewers entering the pool.
Outlined by Javik Blake, Biloxi Shuckers media relations and broadcaster, is 22 now free agents who were in the Brewers farm system a year ago. A few notable names include INF Oliver Dunn, 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr, RHP Justin Yeager, OF Drew Avans, and INF Luis Urias.

Last year, both Dunn and Avans were on the 40-man roster. Dunn split time with Capra at third base to begin the year, both Caleb Durbin was called up and won the everyday job. Avans made just one appearance wit the Brewers and received two at-bats.
Martinez Jr actually was a Minor League free agent last year as well, but elected to re-sign with Milwaukee. In 2025, he appeared in just 80 games at the Triple-A level, spending time on the Development List.
Urias is notably a former Brewers infielder, who signed back with the team late last year. Lastly, Yeager is a pitcher who was acquired during the William Contreras deal. He had a breakout campaign in 2025, and is likely to draw interest from outside organizations in free agency.
