2 MLB Teams That Could Be The Best Fits For Shohei Ohtani
D. Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports

With Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani entering the final year of his contract, there are reasons to believe that the team may choose to trade him.

He would be one of the biggest names to be traded in recent history, and a number of teams will be interested.

Here is a look at the two teams that would be the best fit.

2. New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have two big needs: starting pitching depth and left-handed power.

There may be no better option than Ohtani for both.

Ohtani would give them another top-line starting pitcher in the rotation, along with arguably the best left-handed power hitter in baseball.

He would give Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes necessary support in the rotation as well.

If they were able to keep Judge, they would also have the best one-two punch in baseball.

This would give them one of the best lineups in baseball.

As such, it would be smart of the Yankees to try and pick Ohtani up.

1. New York Mets

It may be a classic New York bidding war for Ohtani.

He fits the core needs of the New York Mets as well, filling the role that may be lost with deGrom and adding to their lineup.

Ohtani would look perfect in the lineup with the protection of Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor.

It is also the franchise altering move that the Mets need to get over the edge.

While it would take a lot to get the superstar, the Mets have the organizational depth to go out and do it.

The team disappointed this year as they lost the division lead.

Expect owner Steve Cohen to make such a move and to also make a statement.
