MLB Parlay of the Day, Tue., 6/28: Interleague games provide value

The Play: Houston Astros (+1) and San Francisco Giants (+1)

When it comes to parlays I always shoot for plus odds, but that's not the case on Tuesday. With an Alternate Run Line Spread on the Houston Astros +1 and the San Francisco Giants +1, the opportunity to make a good chunk of change is still there, just not double. In this case, I'm ok with that. Why? The odds line is still solid at -104 via DraftKings. Plus, if one wins and the other covers, you still make money. And if both lose but cover the line, you get your money back. That's good enough for me.

Houston Astros vs. New York Mets (7:10 p.m. ET)

Houston proved they are a legitimate World Series Contender after splitting with the league-best New York Yankees last weekend. They didn't just beat the Yankees on Saturday, they no-hit them, and then no-hit New York through the first six innings on Sunday before losing 6-3.

Houston's starting staff has been great as of late, and there's no reason why that shouldn't remain the same on Tuesday with Framber Valdez starting for Houston. Valdez has recorded a quality start in each of his four starts this month, and despite facing a Mets offense that leads the National League in runs scored, I still like Valdez to be solid in this one.

You want offense, call Houston's Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez is on a completely different level. The designated hitters leads all MLB hitters this month in batting average (.411), on-base percentage (.494), slugging percentage (.822) and OPS (1.1316).  And don't forget Houston beat the Mets in a two-game series last week. Plus, Mets starter Carlos Carrasco is coming off his worst start this season — 2.1 IP, 5 R, 3 HR Allowed, 1 HB and 2 walks. Just to be safe, I'll take them +1 on the alternate run line, but I still like Houston in this one.

Detroit Tigers vs. San Francisco Giants (9:45 p.m. ET)

I promise I didn't intentionally pick the only two interleague games on Tuesday for the heck of it. It just happened. And with Carlos Rodon starting for the Giants, you'd be making a mistake not to bet on the Giants. Again, just to be safe, I'll take them +1 on the Run Line, even though I think they win this one.

Anytime Rodon is starting, especially as of late, you should bet the Giants. He's 2-0 with an ERA just north of one in five starts this month and has struck out at least eight batters in his last three starts. That's a recipe for success, regardless of who you play. But with Detroit as the opponent, I'm going all-in on San Francisco. The Tigers are dead last in baseball in runs scored and that's not by just a small margin — -26 to be exact. Detroit will be lucky to score two or more runs in this one, let alone one against Rodon. I'm aware Rodon hasn't been getting a whole lot of run support as of late, but he shouldn't need it against Detroit. Don't overthink it, San Francisco +1 in this parlay is a must.
