The World Baseball Classic began with more than 50 Milwaukee Brewers connections participating in the international tournament. Of the players, nine Brewers players on the 40-man roster were rostered, but they also had several minor leaguers/prospects representing their respective countries.

With just Team USA, Dominican Republic, Italy, and Venezuela remaining, just six Milwaukee players remain in the tournament. Here we take a look at who and when they play next.

Which Milwaukee Brewers players have made it to the World Baseball Classic semifinals?

1) USA: Brice Turang

Despite batting at the bottom of Manager Mark Derosa’s lineup, Brice Turang is tied with several others for the second most hits in the tournament at seven. Overall Turang is 7-15 with four doubles. He’s had a strong showing so far and will play a crucial role in whether Team USA advances to the finals or not.

2)  Dominican Republic: Abner Uribe

Abner Uribe is part of a loaded Dominican Republic roster, but he had one particularly wild outing during pool play against Venezuela, walking all three batters he faced. As the tournament progresses and the stakes rise, tightening his command will be crucial.

3) Italy: Andrew Fisher

The Brewers 2025 first round pick has had a strong showing in the World Baseball Classic so far. Italy has taken many by surprise, and Fisher has played a big part in that. In his most recent game he missed a grand slam by a few inches, but was awarded second base and two runs batted in via fan interference.

4) Venezuela: Jackson Chourio

After missing the opener of the tournament following a contusion after being hit by a pitch, the Brewers star outfielder has been playing centerfield for Venezuela. He’s still looking to get it going at the plate, going just 2-12 so far, but one swing could turn his fortunes around.

5) Venezuela: William Contreras

Brewers catcher William Contreras has played in three games so far this tournament, serving as the backup to Venezuela team captain Salvador Perez. Contreras is hitless in 12 at-bats so far.

6) Venezuela: Angel Zerpa

Acquired by the Royals in the offseason, Angel Zerpa recently had a huge moment in the tournament by striking out Shohei Ohtani during a high leverage spot in the quarterfinal. Zerpa has looked sharp so far, not allowing a run over four innings pitched.

Playing next will be USA vs Dominican Republic on the night of Sunday, March 15. The winner of that contest will advance to the championship game and play the winner of Italy and Venezuela, with that game set for March 16. The championship game will be Tuesday, March 17.
