All-Star SS Trevor Story could rejoin Rockies next Tuesday?

Colorado Rockies two-time All-Star shortstop Trevor Story is dealing with right elbow inflammation that first impacted the 28-year-old during last Thursday's loss to the New York Mets.

Story went on the 10-day injured list over the weekend retroactive to Friday, but ESPN explained Tuesday afternoon that an MRI revealed no serious setback. Colorado manager Bud Black told reporters that Story could rejoin the Rockies as soon as next Tuesday.

Story is batting .255 with five home runs and 23 RBIs on the season and continues to be linked with the New York Yankees, among other suitors, in trade rumors during the final year on his deal. Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post recently wrote the Rockies don't intend to move Story before next month's All-Star Game that was relocated from Atlanta to Denver and Coors Field in April.

The Rockies keeping Story past the summer trade deadline seems unlikely and unwise. They began Tuesday's slate of MLB games at 20-34 on the campaign and in fourth place in the National League West standings.
