Nationals' Sean Doolittle outlines what he'll be looking for in MLB proposal

Major League Baseball is set to propose a July start date to the players' union on Tuesday amid the coronavirus pandemic.

While some players are concerned about being away from their families for a long period of time, there are also general concerns about the health and well-being of players and employees.

Washington Nationals pitcher Sean Doolittle outlined what he'll be looking for in MLB's proposal as well as some general information about the novel coronavirus. The 33-year-old placed emphasis on the need to protect everyone involved if the season were to resume, and he makes some extremely good points.

If you can't guarantee player, staff and employee safety, then how will you be able to have a season? Safety is the most important thing during this pandemic, and it seems out of place to allow sports to resume before it's safe to do so.

Why treat athletes any different than a normal human being? Just because fans want sports to resume doesn't mean athletes should be thrown into a dangerous, complex situation for the sake of fan happiness and bringing in money.

Germany's Bundesliga and the English Premier League (possibly) will be returning in the coming weeks, but Europe also is one of the most infected areas in the world ... so even bringing sports back overseas seems on the dangerous side.

While the possibility of the season resuming in July is exciting, don't get too excited because the players' union might shut it down.
