It sounds like one former member of the New York Mets is staying in the division.

Former Mets hurler Stephen Nogosek was designated for assignment by the club in 2023 and joined the Arizona Diamondbacks on a minor league deal. He eventually elected free agency at the end of the season and has been looking for his next opportunity.

He reportedly has found it and will be joining the Nationals on a minor league deal, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Steve Nogosek signs minors deal with (Nationals)," Heyman said.

Nogosek was selected in the sixth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft by the Boston Red Sox and was traded to the Mets in 2017. He worked his way up the club's farm system and eventually made his big league debut in 2019.

The righty spent parts of four seasons at the big league level with New York. Nogosek appeared in 33 games overall with the Mets and logged a 5.02 ERA with a 57-to-23 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 57 1/3 innings pitched.

His best season with the Mets came in 2022 as he logged a 2.45 ERA in 12 appearances. Nogosek tallied a 21-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 22 innings pitched. He struggled in 2023 with a 5.61 ERA before being designated for assignment.

After joining the Arizona organization, Nogosek logged a 6.55 ERA in 27 appearances with the Triple-A Reno Aces. It's unclear what his role will be with the Nationals, but hopefully, he can get back on track.
