Andrew Benintendi and Alex Bregman engage in epic staredown
Oct 17, 2018; Houston, TX, USA; Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (2) reacts after the last out of the ninth inning against the Boston Red Sox in game four of the 2018 ALCS playoff baseball series at Minute Maid Park.  Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman was absolutely robbed of a likely game-winning hit in Game 4 of the ALCS by Boston Red Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi. One day later, neither man had forgotten.

The two were on the field prior to Thursday’s Game 5 and engaged in a pretty solid staredown.

As far as pregame staredowns go, this is a pretty good one. We don’t get this kind of thing in baseball too often. You can definitely see a lot of respect there. But it had a purpose, as well.

Obviously, Benintendi was enjoying this one a little more than Bregman.
