Angels infielder suffers bizarre heat pack injury
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Miguel Sano. Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels are seemingly inventing new types of misfortune.

Angels infielder Miguel Sano, who has been out since April with a knee injury, suffered an unusual setback this week. Sano left a heat pack on his knee for too long without any padding and accidentally burned himself, per Sam Blum of The Athletic. Sano’s return will now be delayed by a couple more days a a result.

Sano, a one-time All-Star, who did not play in Major League Baseball during the 2023 season, looked decent in 21 games for the Angels this season before getting hurt. He was hitting .262 with a .713 OPS. But Sano has now missed a month and counting with his knee issue, which is one of many injury woes that the last-place Angels have already experienced this season.
