Ron Washington's Los Angeles Angels have done nothing to exorcise their demons this season. They were last in the AL West at 12-19 ahead of their game against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night, continuing their run of futility.
Their last playoff appearance was against the Kansas City Royals in the 2014 ALDS, when they got swept in three games. Mike Trout had the first of his three MVP seasons, and they won the division with a 98-64 regular season record. However, they weren't ready for the bright lights of October.
The Angels went 85-77 the year after that, but haven't had a winning record since. They went 63-99 in Washington's first season last year, and the 2025 campaign isn't promising thus far.
However, the 73-year-old doesn't think a team meeting is necessary, via The Athletic's Sam Blum.
"I've had conversations with the team. I'm tired of having meetings," he admitted. "I've had a lot of meetings. And sometimes when you have too many meetings, it falls on deaf ears. I call a meeting when I think it's important."
"Right now, it's not like we're playing terrible baseball," he continued. "We've just got to start getting some outs late in the game...that'll turn it around...The attitude is good. The atmosphere in the clubhouse is good. We've just got to figure out a way to win some ballgames."

After Saturday's game against the Tigers (21-12), the Angels will host them once more before facing the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.
