The Los Angeles Angels' 2025 season has been marred by inconsistency and underperformance. After a promising start, the team has struggled, now sitting at 15-22, placing them at the bottom of the AL West standings. A significant factor in this downturn has been the absence of star outfielder Mike Trout, who has missed the last eight games due to injury.

The injury occurred on April 30 during a game against the Seattle Mariners. Trout injured his left knee while attempting to beat out a ground ball, leading to his placement on the 10-day injured list with a bone bruise in the same knee that underwent surgery in May 2024.

This setback is particularly concerning given Trout's injury history, as he has missed significant time in each of the last three seasons.

Despite these challenges, Trout remains optimistic about his recovery. On Saturday, he announces that he's been swinging the bat without issues and plans to start running next week during the team's trip to San Diego. Trout also mentioned that he no longer experiences sharp pain in his knee, indicating positive progress in his rehabilitation.

Trout's return would be a significant boost for the Angels, who have struggled offensively in his absence. The Angels are currently riding a two-game losing streak and have won just three of their last 10 games. The potential return of their star player offers a glimmer of hope in what has been an otherwise challenging season so far.

LA returns to action on Saturday night and will hope to even the series on the road against the Baltimore Orioles.
