Los Angeles Angels pitcher Ben Joyce, is one of the hardest-throwing fireballers in the game. The right-handed reliever routinely sits at 99 MPH on his fastball and topped out at 105.5 MPH last season.
After making a name for himself at the University of Tennessee, Joyce joined the Angels in 2022 when he was selected in the third round of that year's MLB draft. The 24-year-old enjoyed a career year in 2024, where he pitched 34.2 innings with a 2.08 ERA and 1.154 WHIP.
As one of the game's rising stars out of the bullpen, Joyce was asked recently about arguably the biggest topic in baseball.
In an interview with Trey Wallace of OutKick, Joyce was asked about the "Torpedo Bats" the New York Yankees and other teams around the league have been using.
"Honestly, I don't know if I've faced anyone that is using it yet or not," Joyce admitted. "Like, I don't give hitters too much credit at the end of the day when I'm up there on the mound. If that's what everyone's using now, you just have to adapt. At the end of day, I can’t really control it too much, so If that's what people are using now, I just have to see what I can do different to get them out."

Joyce added, "I guess I'll learn more about it when I face more people, but right now I don't think I've faced anyone with one, and don't know much about them, to be honest."
Joyce has had a nice start to the 2025 season In 2.2 innings pitched, he has yet to give up a run and has only surrendered one hit.
