Angels Still Hoping for a Mike Trout Cameo Before End of Season
USA TODAY Sports

There are only a few weeks left to go in the MLB season, but the Los Angeles Angels are still hoping that star outfielder Mike Trout can make an appearance in the lineup. Trout has missed the majority of the last few months, dealing with a hand injury.

However, Trout hasn’t really done much since the injury, and his return remains in question. Now with the playoffs out of sight for the Angels, they just want him to possibly get some reps prior to the season ending.

“It’s improving, but he hasn’t swung a bat in a while,” Minasian said. “It’s going to take some time. With that being said, the goal is for him to have a good peace of mind, which is important going into an offseason."

Per The OC Register

Trout returned for one game but quickly went back to the injured list after the game. It was a big blow to the playoff chances for this Halos team, but the team wanted to be careful with their star.

If Trout can return, even for a few games, it could be beneficial for him as they enter the long offseason. Getting any confidence will help Trout, as he works to get back into a rhythm.

“I believe it would be really beneficial for him to play again but it has to feel good, and we understand that it’s still bothering him.”

Per The OC Register

The Angels aren’t going to push him to come back, however, because they don’t want to make the injury worse. And with where they are in the standings, it doesn’t make a ton of sense to even bring him back.

There have been rumors swirling that the Angels could move Trout this winter if he were to ask out of the organization. Things have just gone from bad to worse with this franchise, and their long playoff drought will continue on. At some point, Trout could say enough is enough, and it could be this offseason.

It will be a very interesting winter for the Angels, and one that will certainly garner a ton of interest around the league.
