Angels Team Manager Admits it’s Tough to Watch Jose Suarez at Times

The Los Angeles Angels picked up a much-needed win against the big bad New York Yankees on Tuesday night, 5-2. After a tough week, LA is finally on the winning side of things and will look to carry that momentum tonight.

The Halos only allowed four hits; however, last night's starter, Jose Suarez, was not sharp. He failed to get out of the third inning and allowed three of the four hits. Angels manager Phil Nevin couldn't help but admit his lefty starter has struggled and how tough it's been for his squad.

"It's been a struggle. He's got to get better. It's not a secret. But it's in there. We've seen it. ... His stuff's too good to pitch around guys. He's got to throw more strikes."

Last night, Suarez allowed two earned runs, six walks, and only one strikeout in his outing. Overall, the 25-year-old is 0-1 with an ugly 9.26 ERA, seven strikeouts, and a 2.70 WHIP in 11.2 innings pitched. He's allowed 21 hits and 12 earned runs in his three starts and has yet to go beyond four innings.

It has been discouraging to watch Suarez struggle this much, especially when the offense has been catching its stride these past number of games. Nevin publicly called out his lefty starter; we'll see how he responds in his next start, however, things aren't looking too well for the young starter.
