Anthony Rendon Did The Impossible Tuesday Night

The story of last night’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays was the no-hitter thrown by rookie left-hander Reid Detmers.

But something else happened that was quite amazing.

Unfortunately, it gets lost as a result of other events taking place, but that’s to be expected when a no-hitter is thrown.

While Detmers was busy making history, his teammate, third baseman Anthony Rendon, made some history of his own.

With one out and one on in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Angels leading 10-0, Rendon decided to try something new, hitting from the left side.

In the tweet below, a video is included which showed what happened next.

Switching Places

Normally, a manager would not let one of his players hit from the opposite side of the plate.

But with Detmers so locked in and the game far out of reach, Rendon got an opportunity to do something a little bit different, and he made the most of it, crushing a two-run home run off of Brett Phillips, who was making an emergency relief appearance for the Rays.

Baseball truly is a fun game to watch with beautiful moments aplenty, such as the no-hitter from last night and of course, Rendon’s impressive feat.

When a game is that far out of reach, there’s always a chance for something crazy to happen.

And what happened with Rendon was certainly crazy.

He’s not even a switch-hitter.

But he still hit a home run from the left side of the plate and made the Angels and their fans go nuts.

Again, this gets lost in the midst of the no-hitter, but it was just as special.
