Arizona aims to slam door on Mets as Diamondbacks look to seal series

It will be a  cool and brisk 75-degree day in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon, as that is the perfect recipe for a Diamondbacks day game at Chase Field.

After taking the second game of the series last night by a score of 5-1, Arizona will look to win its second series of the season over the Mets on Wednesday.

Who is pitching on Wednesday?

Arizona will be looking for Merrill Kelly to continue his streak of dominant starts, but will hope to avoid cramping, as it has been an issue as of late. In Kelly’s last start, he gave up one earned run on five pitches but had to leave the game after only 60 pitches. Coming into today’s game, Kelly has a 3-1 record with a 4.07 ERA.

Kodai Senga will be on the mound today for the New York Mets as he comes into Wednesday’s matchup with a 3-2 record and a 1.38 ERA on the 2025 season. His last start came against the D-Backs last week in New York, where Senga pitched in a loss while pitching only four innings and allowing five hits and one earned run.

The Bash Brothers:

Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo are taking the league by storm as of late. MLB’s official Twitter account recognized it as well as Carroll and Perdomo are the only players this season in the 90th percentile or better in Statcast’s Batting Run Value, Baserunning Run Value, and Fielding Run Value metrics.
Carroll has a .288 batting average on the season, along with 10 home runs and 27 RBIs so far in the season. Perdomo is up there right with him, sporting a .286 batting average with 5 home runs and 30 RBIs of his own.

Arizona takes on the New York Mets today at Chase Field at 12:40 p.m. PT.
