In what was a nail-biter last night, Arizona came away with the 4-3 victory. Geraldo Perdomo was one of the main heroes in yesterday’s victory. As a pinch hitter, Perdomo delivered a single that scored two runs in the top of the seventh, and a sacrifice fly that scored the fourth run in the top of the ninth that helped seal the win for Arizona. Corbin Burnes was phenomenal on the day as he went six innings and only gave up one earned run on four hits.
Zac Gallen will look to keep the Diamondbacks in this matchup, as he has had an up-and-down season so far. In his last outing against Atlanta, Gallen pitched five innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits. Gallen is sporting an uncharacteristic 1-4 record with a 3.65 ERA.
The New York Mets will be having Kodai Senga get the start today. Senga is having a remarkable season so far. His 3-1 record and 1.26 ERA in 28.2 innings pitched is showing why Senga is up there with some of the best pitchers in the league this season. In his last start in Washington, Senga pitched six innings while only giving up two earned runs on six hits.
In other news for the D-Backs, after what was a concerning outing for Justin Martinez, he landed on the 15-day Injured list with right shoulder inflammation. He joins A.J. Puk who has left elbow inflammation but will be transferred to the 60-day IL. It looks like it will be all hands on deck for the D-Backs bullpen for the time being as they navigate through May.
