Opening Day is almost here. The first Opening Day for the Arizona Diamondbacks was on March 31, 1998, against the Colorado Rockies, ending in a loss. Now, 27 seasons later, the Diamondbacks hold a 15-12 record in season openers. Chase Field, the home of the Diamondbacks, is the 12th-oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. Opening Day marks a significant moment as each team begins its regular season. As Chase Field heats up for another year, excitement is building among fans for this historic day.

Injuries are a concern heading into the season, the Diamondbacks currently faced the loss of left-hander Jordan Montgomery. Montgomery is currently on the 60-day injured list due to an elbow injury that will soon require Tommy John surgery for the second time.

However, with new talent joining the Diamondbacks, the possibilities from Opening Day to the end of the season are endless. Left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks signed a one-year, $1.25 million deal with Arizona, bringing raw talent to the bullpen. Right-hander Shelby Miller also earned a roster spot. Both pitchers add valuable talent to the team with Beeks holding a 4.50 ERA in 71 games last season, while Miller showcased his skills in Cactus League play with 11 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Time is ticking, and Opening Day is just around the corner. On Thursday, March 27, at 7:10 p.m., the Diamondbacks will take on the Chicago Cubs. Arizona is sending right-hander Zac Gallen to face off against left-hander Justin Steele in what is set to be an electrifying season opener. Fans, get ready as Diamondbacks are here to remind you of what Opening day is all about.
