Some say baseball players are very superstitious but maybe that's for a good reason.
Athletics left fielder Brent Rooker was nowhere near the batter's box and still was nearly struck out by Cleveland Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee online Thursday.
Rooker quoted an X post by an account asking him to breakdown some of his at-bats on video. He explained that while the idea is tempting, he's "unreasonably paranoid" opposing pitchers will watch them and use the intel against him in-season.
Bibee took a poke at Rooker's concerns by replying "yeah dude you should do it."

Rooker was a good sport about Bibee's jest and quoted the jab saying, "See?? Can't ever trust pitchers."

Rooker has only faced Bibee in six plate appearances in his career. He managed just a walk and one hit but it was a meaningful one, a home run on Sept. 12 last season.
You can't fault Bibee for using every pitch he has in his arsenal (physical or virtual) to gain an edge on his opponents. He saw his numbers take a hit or two in 2024 after posting an impressive rookie campaign in 2023.
Even in the offseason, Rooker won't let a pitcher get a fastball past him. He'll be hoping his mental sharpness will carry over into the 2025 season where he'll look to improve upon his already impressive career-highs in 2024.
