Astros' Jose Altuve getting MRI due to right knee injury

Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker confirmed that second baseman Jose Altuve will undergo an MRI to examine a right knee injury he suffered during Thursday's game versus the Texas Rangers.

Houston defeated Texas 8-4.

Altuve experienced knee discomfort following an awkward slide into third base in the first inning of the contest. Baker replaced Altuve in the top of the third:

As noted by the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the 30-year-old underwent an operation on that same knee in the fall of 2018 to repair a kneecap avulsion fracture.

Through 35 appearances, Altuve is batting .224 with three home runs, 12 RBI, five doubles, and a .606 OPS.
