Astros Release Game 2 Starting Lineup
USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Astros got a much needed victory at home in Game 1 of the ALDS.

Their home struggles could have been on full display if things went wrong, but they jumped out to an early five run lead that propelled them to a 6-4 win.

The Astros head into Game 2 with Framber Valdez on the mound who has been a dominant postseason pitcher for them.

In 13 playoff appearances, 12 as a starter, the lefty has an ERA of 3.41 across 68 2/3 innings pitched. During their World Series run last year, Valdez started four games on his way to a 3-0 record, 1.44 ERA and 33 strikeouts.

The Minnesota Twins will counter with their own ace Pablo Lopez.

He was acquired in a trade with the Miami Marlins during the offseason and finished the year with an 11-8 record and 3.66 ERA. He also was second in the AL with 234 strikeouts this season.

Houston released their official lineup to combat the Minnesota ace.

  1. Jose Altuve - Second Base
  2. Alex Bregman - Third Base
  3. Yordan Alvarez - Left Field
  4. Kyle Tucker - Right Field
  5. Jose Abreu - First Base
  6. Michael Brantley - Designated Hitter
  7. Chas McCormick - Center Field
  8. Jeremy Pena - Short Stop
  9. Martin Maldonado - Catcher

Brantley is back for the second consecutive game after it was unclear how much manager Dusty Baker would use him based on his shoulder soreness.

He was able to go 1-3 with a single and walk during Game 1 before being subbed out by Mauricio Dubon late for defensive purposes.

Alvarez will be taking over left field in Game 2, flipping roles with Brantley who was there in the first game.

Everything else stays the same as the Astros get ready to try and take a two games to none lead on Sunday.
