Less than two full years after being selected in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Athletics No. 3 overall prospect Gage Jump is slated to make his MLB debut.
It was reported in the wee hours of Tuesday morning by ESPN's Jeff Passan that Jump was being promoted to the major leagues.
Jump, the No. 41 overall prospect, according to MILB, has dominated at Triple-A this season, striking out 56 batters in just 38 innings pitched.
Not only was Jump promoted before Tuesday's game, but it is now being reported that he will be starting on the mound for the Athletics, marking his MLB debut against the Seattle Mariners.
Hearing Gage Jump will start tonight’s game for the A’s against the Mariners. Luis Severino will be pushed back.

Jump's minor league success this season has already been highlighted, and last year was much of the same. The left-hander out of LSU posted a 3.28 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 112 2/3 innings pitched in his first full professional season.
Jump's most notable pitch is his fastball, which gets up to as high as 97 mph. Jump also features a curveball, slider, sweeper and changeup. That five-pitch arsenal put him in the 88th percentile in strikeout percentage at Triple-A this season. With just a 1.5-game lead over Seattle in the standings, Jump figures to be a key part of the remainder of the season for the A's.
