The Athletics were forced to make multiple pitching changes after dropping back-to-back games to the Tampa Bay Rays, placing left-hander José Suarez on the 15-day injured list with a right hip strain.
The club also optioned right-hander Yunior Tur to Triple-A Las Vegas while recalling Hayden Juenger and newly claimed left-hander Drew Rom to reinforce an overworked bullpen following consecutive losses.
Martín Gallegos of MLB.com reported Wednesday that Suarez landed on the injured list with a right hip strain, while Juenger and Rom were recalled and Tur was sent back to Triple-A as part of the roster shuffle.

- RHP Hayden Juenger and LHP Drew Rom recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas
- Yunior Tur optioned to Triple-A
- José Suarez (right hip strain) placed on 15-day IL
Suarez had become an important bullpen piece after arriving from the Seattle Mariners in May. Across 33 relief appearances this season, he owns a 4.69 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 40.1 innings. His absence removes one of the Athletics' primary multi-inning left-handed options during a difficult stretch of the schedule.
The roster moves come after the Athletics surrendered 22 runs across consecutive losses to the Rays, including Tuesday's 12-4 defeat. The club enters its next game at 47-73, fourth in the American League West and 13.5 games behind the division-leading Houston Astros.
Rom immediately fills Suarez's left-handed role after being claimed off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. He dominated Triple-A hitters this season, posting a 2.03 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 59-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 40 innings.
Juenger also returns after producing quality numbers at Triple-A Las Vegas, giving the Athletics another fresh arm for the bullpen. Meanwhile, Tur heads back to the minors after covering two innings in Tuesday's loss, allowing the Athletics to reset its pitching staff following the demanding series.
