The Atlanta Braves announced today that they have signed LHP Angel Perdomo, who was non-tendered just weeks ago, to a non-guaranteed contract for 2024.
The #Braves today signed LHP Angel Perdomo to a one-year, non-guaranteed split contract for the 2024 season, and outrighted INF Evan White to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Perdomo, 29, was claimed off waivers by Atlanta from the Pittsburgh Pirates in early November. The Braves non-tendered him just weeks later, but he's now back in the organization as an investment in the future. Having undergone Tommy John surgery on October 6th, he's not going to be available for 2024, but Atlanta should retain his contractual rights for 2025-2028 after he spends all season on the 60-day injured list.
In 2023, when healthy, Perdomo was 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA in 30 appearances for the Pirates. Striking out 44 batter in his 29 innings, Perdomo had an even better FIP (3.01) than his ERA and fits Atlanta's recent history of acquiring players that should be able to improve their stats in better environments.
Another move made by Atlanta was to pass recently-acquired Evan White through waivers and send him to AAA Gwinnett. Owed $17M on the contract he signed while with the Seattle Mariners, he wasn't likely to get claimed by any other organization. He could theoretically elect free agency instead, as he has more than three years of service time, but he would be sacrificing the remaining guaranteed money on the contract (as that requires five years of service time). The move removes him from the 40-man roster.
