The Atlanta Braves designated Alex Verdugo for assignment on Wednesday. This news will reportedly lead to the team reinstating Jurickson Profar. His stint with the Braves was an unsuccessful one. He hit .239 this season with 12 RBI in Atlanta. Where will the veteran outfielder land next?

Verdugo made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. His career has included stints with the Boston Red Sox , New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves. He has been given multiple opportunities to be an everyday player. Unfortunately, he has not been able to live up to the lofty expectations that accompanied his MLB debut. He was the No. 2 prospect in the Dodgers’ system in 2019.
It is unclear what Verdugo’s next step is. He will presumably want to continue his MLB career, but his performance with the Braves did not do him any favors. He will find a new home as teams will be looking for a veteran bat.
