The Atlanta Braves have made history over the last week. They have alternated one-run losses and one-run wins in seven straight games. That is the longest such streak by any team in MLB history. Atlanta’s streak began with a 2-1 win on May 6 against the Cincinnati Reds. It continued with a 4-3 loss on May 7, a 5-4 win on May 8, a 3-2 loss on May 9, a 4-3 loss on May 11, and a walk-off 4-3 win at home last night against the Washington Nationals. Will the Atlanta Braves keep this streak of close wins and losses going?

Atlanta has played much better following a miserable 0-7 start to the regular season. Even with that, they are in third place in the National League East at 20-21. Atlanta’s offense has been middling in 2025. They are 20th in batting average, 13th in home runs, and 21st in runs scored. No Braves player has stood out at the plate through 40+ games this year.
Atlanta’s pitching staff has also been mediocre. They are 15th in team ERA, ninth in opposing batting average, and 15th in WHIP. Starting Pitcher Chris Sale is seventh in the league in strikeouts. With a mediocre offense and pitching staff, it is no surprise that the Atlanta Braves are a .500 ballclub.
The Atlanta Braves return to the diamond this evening against the Washington Nationals. They will seek to break their streak of one-run ballgames. Atlanta is a perennial playoff team that has played below expectations in 2025.
