The Atlanta Braves today play a doubleheader against the Washington Nationals. The first game is at 1:05 PM EST. The second game is scheduled for 6:45 PM EST. The Braves this month are 5-8, averaging 4.1 runs per game while allowing 5.7 runs per game. Ahead of today’s game, they transferred catcher Sean Murphy from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with a right hip labral tear. They also selected the contract of left-handed pitcher José Suarez and recalled right-handed pitcher Nathan Wiles. To make room, they optioned right-handed pitchers Connor Seabold and Alexis Díaz to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Sean Murphy

Murphy, this season in 94 games, has hit .199 with a .709 OPS. He has 13 doubles, 16 home runs, 45 RBI, 34 runs scored, and 35 walks. In three games at Triple-A, he hit .200 with a .700 OPS. He had a home run, two RBI, and a run scored.

José Suarez

Suarez, in three games for Atlanta this season, is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 7.1 innings. In 13 games across three minor league levels, with 11 of those coming as starts, he went 5-1. He posted a 3.50 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and 69 strikeouts in 61.2 innings.

Nathan Wiles

Wiles in one game went one inning, giving up three runs on four hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out one. In 25 games at Triple-A, with 19 coming as starts, he went 6-8. Wiles posted a 3.04 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 105 strikeouts in 112.2 innings.

Connor Seabold

Seabold in four games for Atlanta, posts a 9.82 ERA, a 2.18 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. In seven big league games, he posted a 4.35 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in 10.1 innings. In 21 minor league games, with ten coming as starts, he went 3-5. He posted a 6.16 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts in 68.2 innings.

Alexis Díaz

Díaz has pitched for three teams this season, making 18 appearances and going 1-0. He posted an 8.15 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. In three games for the Braves, he posted a 10.13 ERA, a 1.88 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
