Austin Martin and James Outman tallied three RBIs apiece and the Minnesota Twins coasted to a 9-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Thursday afternoon in Minneapolis.

Josh Bell hit a two-run double for Minnesota, which won the rubber match of a three-game series. Victor Caratini also drove in a run.

Otto Lopez went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Marlins.

Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews (1-0) shined in his season debut. He scattered four hits in seven scoreless innings, and he walked one and struck out five.

Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett (0-1) also made his season debut but struggled far more than Matthews. Garrett gave up five runs on four hits and five walks in 1 1/3 innings. He struck out three.

The Twins set the tone with a five-run second inning.

Martin started the scoring with a two-run, ground-rule double. Bell followed three batters later with another two-run double, and Caratini made it 5-0 with an RBI groundout to second base.

Outman boosted the Twins' lead to 6-0 with an RBI single to right in the third.

The Marlins got on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth. Xavier Edwards drew a two-out walk and advanced to second when Liam Hicks drew a walk. Moments later, Lopez knocked a single to center that drove in Edwards.

The Twins added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Outman stepped to the plate with two on and two out, and he delivered with a two-run double to left to give him three RBIs for the afternoon. Martin followed with an RBI single to drive in Outman and put the Twins ahead 9-1.

Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was scratched before the game because of right hip flexor soreness. Buxton leads the team with 15 home runs in 40 games on the season.

Minnesota second baseman Luke Keaschall notched his 10th stolen base of the season. He is a perfect 10-for-10 on the basepaths after swiping 14 bases in 17 attempts in 2025.
