Back strain lands Brewers All-Star Christian Yelich on 10-day IL

The Milwaukee Brewers are placing All-Star outfielder Christian Yelich on the 10-day injured list with a back strain, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Yelich has had recurring back soreness in recent seasons, including all four of his years with the Brewers. He hasn't played since leaving in the second inning against the St. Louis Cardinals on April 11.

The 29-year-old is slashing .333/.459/.367 with one RBI on 10 hits in nine games. With Yelich joining Lorenzo Cain on the injured list, the Brewers will likely continue to deploy an outfield of Jackie Bradley Jr., Avisail Garcia and Billy McKinney.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said the Brewers hope Yelich won't be out long term, per Haudricourt.
