The Baltimore Orioles announced on Thursday morning that they have placed closer Félix Bautista on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder discomfort.

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said that he learned that Bautista felt discomfort in his shoulder while he was warming up to enter the game against the Cleveland Guardians, a game they would falter in by a final score of 3-2.

The team announced that Bautistsa will undergo an MRI when the O's return home on Friday.

The 30-year-old reliever is navagating through his first stint back off of the Tommy John surgery he had last year that sidelined him throughout the entirety of the 2024 season. In his retunr back on the mound, he has been nothing short of spectacular, posting a 2.60 ERA in 34 2/3 innings pitched and a WHIP 1.13.

Bautista regained his status as a big game reliever that the O's can count on, especially with the copious amounts of arms landing on the injured list for Baltimore and the expectancy of the O's becoming sellers come the July 31 MLB trade deadline.

Before he was scheduled to make his appearance on Wednesday, Bautistsa was partically absent from the last three Orioles games, last seeing action on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. In that game, he earned his 19th save, marking him with the sixth most in the American Legue at the moment.

As of right now, the Orioles will have to be fluctuating their roles at the reliever spot, most likely switching back and forth from right-hander Yannier Cano to fellow righty Seranthony Dominguez.
