The Baltimore Orioles will start a three-game series tonight against the Kansas City Royals. The Orioles are coming off a tough series loss to the Boston Red Sox over the week, they were outscored 16-12. Today, they get some offense back in their lineup as they activated shortstop Gunnar Henderson off the 10-day injured list. To make room for Henderson, they optioned outfielder Dylan Carlson to Triple-A Norfolk. Henderson, in five rehab games at Norfolk, hit .263 with a .879 OPS. He had two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored.
This spring, before the injury, he had played in three games, going 1-6. Henderson will be starting his fourth season with the Orioles, who drafted him in the second round of the 2019 MLB draft. In 343 career games, he’s hitting .268 with a .850 OPS. He has 67 doubles, 17 triples, 69 home runs, 192 RBI, and 230 runs scored. Last season in 159 games, he hit .281 with a .893 OPS. He had 31 doubles, seven triples, 37 home runs, 92 RBI, 118 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases.
In two games with the Orioles, he didn’t record a hit. He did have an RBI and a run scored. Last season, between the Cardinals and Rays in 96 games, he hit .209 with a .563 OPS. He had seven doubles, three home runs, 25 RBI, and 19 runs scored.
