Even with a recent rough patch, the Seattle Mariners have been one of the best teams in MLB this year. They enter Monday with a 26-19 record, the best mark in the American League West, third-best in the American League, and ninth-best in all of MLB.
The team's success has come on the back of one of the best starting rotations in the sport, even decimated with injuries, and an offense performing at an unexpected rate.
Led by Cal "Big Dumper" Raleigh, the Mariners have posted a .728 OPS this year, good enough for 10th in Major League Baseball.

Even with the success the team has had to this point in the year, the power surge from Big Dumper and a sweep of the San Diego Padres over the weekend, Seattle still finds itself falling in the latest weekly power rankings. After placing 10th last week, they land at 11th in the latest iteration.
"Cal Raleigh is now tied with Aaron Judge for the AL lead [in home runs] with 15 on the year after slugging three more last week, one behind Shohei Ohtani for the top spot on the MLB leaderboard," writes Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report. "Two of those bombs came during the weekend sweep of the Padres at Petco Park, and that should help right the ship following a 1-5 stretch of games against the Blue Jays and Yankees."
Raleigh's power is nothing new. The catcher entered the 2025 season with 93 career home runs across his first four years at the Major League level. While Julio Rodriguez has regressed year-over-year, every year at the plate, Raleigh has gotten better, specifically in terms of power. He has increased his home run total year-over-year, every year, and is on pace to do so again this year with a current pace of 54 home runs.

Raleigh alone may not be enough for Seattle to win its first-ever postseason series, but with Big Dumper and the pitching staff they have constructed, it is certainly a start.
