Giveaways are sometimes the highlight of the baseball season and also the best way to draw new fans. Teams across the league have added creative spins to their player bobblehead giveaways and themes like Hello Kitty and Star Wars. A good giveaway can quite literally be a game-changer for a team that is looking to bring in the ‘casual fan’ to the stadium. This year, the Chicago White Sox announced their Pope hat giveaway, which quickly exploded in both baseball and non-baseball communities.
The Blue Jays have rolled out some great giveaways, including Ernie Clement’s hockey jersey giveaway and World Series ring giveaways in 2026. But there’s still room to add their twists and consider other ideas.
Here are three giveaways the team should consider in the future:
Louis Varland has thrown the most innings out of the current Blue Jays’ relief core, at least according to the eye test. Varland joined the club at the 2025 trade deadline from the Minnesota Twins and has since become a fan favourite. His back-slapping entrance from the bullpen during the playoffs became one of the most iconic moments in Blue Jays fans’ memories.
There are many ways to do a Varland-themed giveaway.
As one fan suggested, it can be a replica jersey giveaway with handprints on the back to honour his playoff moment. Or it could be a bobblehead of him doing a handstand. Maybe even a bobblehead that counts his relief appearances since he broke the postseason record last October. It could also be one where Varland is ice fishing, since that’s one of his biggest interests, with the reliever hailing from Minnesota. Varland has become one of the cornerstones of this roster and the bullpen – a giveaway featuring him will become an instant hit.
Bark in the Park isn’t a new concept to many teams because every team outside Toronto has been doing it for years. The Jays featured this promotion years ago, but have since turned their backs on the idea of furry friends attending the game.
In some cases, some teams have also done a “meow in the park” so fans could bring cats to the stadium. If the Blue Jays are interested in bringing more demographics, allowing people to bring their pets is probably the best way. Dogs are men’s best friend for a reason, and encouraging people to bring their pets is also another great way to generate more organic moments and content at the game from the Blue Jays’ perspective.
Tyler Rogers is one of the funkier signings, given his approach on the mound. Rogers throws from a true submarine or underhand position, which contrasts rookie starter Trey Yesavage’s high angle that’s often compared to Justin Verlander.
Currently, Rogers is one of many players who don’t have a themed giveaway yet, but with his unique pitching style, a bobble arm giveaway would be the perfect and one-of-a-kind giveaway that will live in Blue Jays fans’ memories. Replicate how Rogers throws and make his throwing arm stand out in the giveaway – it’s that easy.
Bonus points if the Blue Jays can find a way to somehow incorporate both Trey Yesavage and Tyler Rogers in this bobble arm giveaway to compare their pitching angles!
